Crest Lane School is off to another exciting year. This year as students walked into their classrooms, they were greeted by the sight of a small goodie bag on each desk. Ms. Nancy gave each student, teacher, and aide a survival kit that brought a smile to each face. We have enrolled 11 students in grades 1-4 and 14 students in grades 5-8. We have five very excited 8th graders who are already planning for their graduation in May. They have started thinking about fund raising, class trips, and graduation speakers.
A new exciting addition to the school this year is the arrival of the Bookmobile. The bookmobile will be coming every 3 weeks on Wednesdays, starting in September. They will also provide a special story time for the lower grades. We had been wondering how to get students to the library and now that problem has been resolved by having the library come to us.
Our first field trip this year will be a meet-and-greet picnic at Cascade Lake on Sunday, September 7. With our growing enrollment and new parents we thought it would be fun to have a get together. Home and School is helping to plan the menu and games are on the agenda as well.
This year Jan Wall will once again be our music teacher. She offers a wide range of expertise in music and this year is thinking about offering band lessons. Daniela Scarriaba will also return to teach Spanish. The students always appreciate her enthusiasm. Ms. Nancy, as always, heads up the office to keep us running smoothly. Debbie Wantz returns as our faithful aide, willing to take on new tasks and challenges. Dan Thomas is our ‘behind the scenes’ computer tech. This year with an increase of students, we are looking forward to an increase of computers in each classroom.
The school’s website is up and running being maintained as needed with current information.

Keep an eye on the school’s column as I hope to bring on board some junior reporters. Keep praying those children into our school.
