School is out for the summer at Crest Lane! We are one excited group of people. Our activities for the month of May included a trip to the nursing home, finally.   We got to have our annual hot dog picnic with the residents. We started off playing Bingo, which is one of the kid’s favorite activities to do. After several rounds it was time to eat! We had vegetarian hot dogs, chips, fruit salad, macaroni salad, and cookies for dessert. I think everyone had an enjoyable time and a resident got up and made a heart felt speech to the students before we left. He said how glad he was that we took the time to come and visit, how happy it made him and gave him and the others the chance to feel young again. It really made the students stop and think, as you could have heard a pin drop when he was finished. It was a wonderful end to our visits for this year.

The lower grades went to the zoo in Baltimore this month. It was both fun and educational. Cheryl Smith was substituting in the upper grades as the eighth graders were on their trip at this time.  The school would like to thank all our parent volunteer drivers. Without them we could not take any of our field trips that we so enjoy.

That completes the school year for 2008-2009. We will miss all our 8th grade students and wish them God's blessings on their future paths. They have made Crest Lane a better place from having attended here. We hope they will stay in touch with us and even come back to visit and play a game of dodge ball.  Jill Smuda, Principal
