Angela Misselhorn
1st - 4th grade teacher
|
Angela has a degree in Psychology, English, and Education. Her teaching career began in school-age daycare in Canada and she has taught in Canada, Japan, and the USA. Angela taught in an international school in Japan where she created the curriculum for international kindergarten. She has over 25 years teaching experience and has been teaching in Adventist schools for the past 12 years. She is certified in Maryland and Pennsylvania and now has denominational certification. She has completed the NTE’s with PA passing scores.
Angela’s philosophy of teaching is that the teacher is a facilitator - guiding students as they need it and providing a learning environment that nurtures all students to achieve their goals and to be successful in life. She believes in explaining to the students why they should behave in a certain manner so that they internalize that behavior and are not simply obedient out of fear. She encourages her students to be independent thinkers. Classroom rules are created with the students’ input. The golden rule is a fundamental behavioral model in her classroom. |
