Attendance Policies
School Day
School begins promptly at 8:10 a.m. each day Monday through Friday. School is dismissed at 3:10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and at 1:55 p.m. on Friday.
Students may arrive at school at 8:00 a.m. and are expected to be picked up by 3:20 p.m. If a student must arrive earlier than 8:00 a.m. or stay later than 3:20 p.m., arrangements must be made in advance.
To help insure the safety of all students, the front door will be locked during school hours.
The school day begins with Worship. Worship is the keystone of our day, setting the tone for a Christ-centered atmosphere in the classrooms. Parents, who wish, may join the class for worship, but need to make arrangements with the teacher.
School Closing
Crest Lane Seventh-day Adventist School will follow the Carroll County Public School announcement of schools closing due to weather conditions. A Crest Lane School Official will contact each student’s family regarding additional days of closing. Monitor local radio and television stations for announcements. On Friday Crest Lane will open only 1 hour late if Carroll County announces two-hour delay, unless notified otherwise by a school official.
Standards of Christian Conduct
Each Crest Lane student is expected to behave in a courteous and cooperative manner at all times, always exhibiting respect for God as our Creator and Redeemer and respect to teachers, staff, volunteers, and fellow students. Considerable emphasis is placed on intangibles such as attitude, spirit, cooperation, and positive contribution to the spiritual, social, and academic atmosphere of the school.
• All students are expected to uphold the standards of the Scriptures, our Church, and the laws of our local, state, and federal governments.
• To promote Christian growth, regular personal and family devotion and church attendance is encouraged.
• Students are to dress in accordance with the principles of Christian modesty as outlined in the Crest Lane Dress Code.
• All students are expected to be on time to all school appointments and be in designated areas as directed by the teaching staff.
• Chewing gum is not permitted on school property and food is to be eaten only at appropriate times and in appropriate places.
• Magazines, books, pictures, etc. that are brought to school should be in harmony with Christian values and standards. Inappropriate items are not allowed and will be confiscated.
• Hand-held electronic games, radios, walkman, cassette/CD players, etc. are not permitted at school. These items will be taken from students and returned to parents only.
• Students will respect their own property, that of others, and of the school. They will refrain from taking or using things which do not belong to them unless they obtain permission from the owner.
• When accidental damage to school property occurs, it is to be reported immediately. Willful damage or destruction of school property will call for restitution and additional discipline.
• Inappropriate sexual behaviors or language will not be tolerated.
• Gambling, betting, playing cards, or using Ouija boards is forbidden.
• Students will not curse, and will refrain from using cheap or crude expressions.
• Students will show respect for others in all their words and actions.

• The use, possession, or distribution of any harmful substances such as drugs in any form, tobacco, alcoholic beverages, caffeine drinks, unhealthful or Biblically unclean foods is prohibited.
• Possession of weapons, dangerous objects, matches, lighters, or explosive devices is not permitted and will result in immediate suspension and possible expulsion. Imitation or toy weapons are not permitted school, and having them at school may result in suspension.
A student's violation of these standards of behavior will result in disciplinary measures.
